Namus (1925)

Shamakhi, mid-19th century. The son of the potter Airapet, Seyran secretly meets with his fiancee Susan, the daughter of the tailor Barkhudar. Dating between the bride and groom before the wedding is strictly prohibited by adat. The neighbors become aware of one of the dates. A false rumor spreads about Seyran's insult to the bride's honor, and Susan is given as a wife to the rich merchant Rustam. Seiran, having learned about his lover’s betrayal, slanderes her, declaring that Susan belonged to him. Rustam, considering himself disgraced, kills Susan. Upon learning of the death of his beloved, Seiran commits suicide.
